How to add photographic effect to pictures using Photoshop?
This tutorial is for those who are new to photoshop ( i call them babies
). So its written in the most basic form
.
Adding photographic effect to pictures will look like this:
Lets start the tutorial
.
First open the pictures you need (For that goto File->open)
After opening the pictures, create a new work area (Goto File-> New) with dimensions of your choice.
Now goto any of the open image.
Select Rectangular lasso tool.
With the Rectangular lasso tool, click on the top left corner of the image and drag it to bottom right corner so that the whole image gets selected. Or you can select only the part of the image needed (as i have done below, not the whole image)
.
Next goto Edit-> Copy (or use Cntrl+c )
The selected part of the image will be copied. Now come to the new work area we created, and paste the copied image (Edit->Paste or Cntl+v).
The pasted image may not fit the work area.
So we need to resize the image.
For that goto Edit-> Free Transform (Cntl+t).
Small boxes will appear around the picture.
Point the mouse near the top left box, press shift key and simultaneously click and drag it towards the bottom right which will reduce the size of the image
.
You can move the picture by just clicking on the picture and dragging it to any place.
Just bring the picture to top and adjust its size until you feel the size is ok.
To apply the size change, click on any tool in the tool box. A confirmation window will appear asking you whether to apply changes. Click on apply
.
Similarly bring more photos to the work area.
You can adjust the placing of the pictures (i.e which one to appear on top of another) by adjusting the layers as shown:
Just drag a layer and drop it below or above another layer. Its so easy
.
Next is to add the photographic effect. For that, double click on the topmost layer (or any layer of your choice, but not the bottom one).
Double clicking on a layer will open up the Layer Style window:
Click on the last option, i.e the Stroke option.
Adjust the size, position and color as shown in pic below:
The size to almost 7, Position: Inside and color:White.
Next Click on the first option, i.e the Drop Shadow option.
Adjust it as shown in the pic above or try your own adjustments.
After completing the Stoke and Drop Shadow works, click OK.
When the above steps are complete, one of the image will be having the photographic effect.
In the image below, Layer 3 is having the effect.
Same effect is needed for other layers also. So just right click on Layer 3 and copy layer style.
Right click on other layers one by one and Paste the layer style.
Thus all the images will be having the same photographic effect
.
